Flight Options - Getting to/from Egypt |
| Arrivals:
The Egypt Tour begins in Cairo on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at
6:00 PM. Plan to arrive in Cairo before this time. Flights
from North America to Egypt arrive in Egypt the following day.
Departures: The touring finishes on the evening of Tues, Oct 6. That hotel night is included in your tour. Departures any time on Wednesday, Oct 7, 2009. Please contact us to help with purchasing your flights to/from Egypt. Airfare costs vary depending on time of booking. You will be required to purchase your flight upon booking. We can book discounted flights on Egypt Air, nonstop New York/Cairo, at approx. $1,000 USD roundtrip including taxes. Add-on connection Boston/NY is about $120 USD roundtrip. Egypt Air flight from NY arrives in Egypt about noon local time, so you would depart from NY on Saturday, Sept 26 at 6:30 PM and arrive the next day in Cairo about noon (Cairo time). Flight is about 10 and a half hours. From the west coast, Chicago or Florida it is usually better to fly via the UK or European cities, rather than NY. | Roommates: Please
indicate your roommate choice on your registration form. Prices are
based on two or three persons sharing each hotel room. Price per
person in double or triple is the same (no additional discount on 3rd
person).
Single Supplements: If you are
not sharing the hotel rooms with another person, you will need to pay a
single supplement to make up for the difference in the hotel
costs. No roommate? We can help match you with a roommate. Let us know you would like to share, and we will send you the emails of others seeking a roommate. You can then contact each other. If you decide to be roommates, contact us and let us know who your roommate will be. If you do not find someone that you would like to share with, you will be required to pay the single supplement. for a double room, $140 for a single room. Prices include buffet
breakfast and all taxes.
Arrivals in Cairo: You will be met at the Cairo airport by a representative who will assist you in getting a visa for Egypt and with customs. Includes bringing you to the hotel and getting you checked in. This service is included in your tour and applies to arrivals on any day, at any time of the day or night. See the Church of St. Mary, called El Moallaqah (the "Hanging Church"), which was built in the 4th C. AD on two towers of the Roman fortress of Babylon, and also the Church of St. Stergius. Cost: $80 USD pp. Minimum 2 persons. Ethnic Cairo Shopping Tour, Oct 7th. Day trip into Cairo for shopping, in an Old World style. Like traveling back into time, we visit the Avenue of the Tent-makers in the old city where you can buy appliquéd items directly from the makers, Kerdasa - where they make a wide variety of galebeya dresses/caftans, and the Kahn El Khalili bazaar for a wide variety of goods, including belly dancing costumes. Linger over a meal at the famous historic Naguib Mafouz restaurant or try smoking some shisha (flavored tobacco) at an outdoor cafe.
