Beginning
at MOON BEACH, Ras Sudr
Located about 1 hour's drive south of the Suez tunnel,
Moon Beach Resort is about 2 1/2 - 3 hours drive from Cairo. |
Day 1: Start in the morning from the Moon Beach Resort
Hotel near Ras Sudr. We begin by visiting the Wadi Gharadahl Oasis and
the hot springs at Hammam Fara'Un by jeep. Lunch at the Sheikh El
Qirai tomb site. Here you meet your camel and begin the camel
riding. Ride the camels to the Serabit El Khadim Bedouin
village. Sleep in the sand dunes near Serabit.
Day 2: Visit the Hathor Temple on Serabit Mountain
by camel. This temple was
built by the Ancient Egyptians during the Pharonic times. It was begun
during the Middle Kingdom and then expanded on during the New Kingdom by Queen
Hatshepsut and Tutmosis III (2nd C. BC). Sleep nearby at Ramalat Himaiyir.
Day 3: Go by camel again to Sheikh Habus's tomb
where you have lunch. Then travel about 3 hours by jeep or Land cruiser
through the sand dunes back to Moon Beach. |

Beginning
at Abu
Zenima
Located about 2 hour's drive south of the Suez tunnel,
the town of Abu Zenima is about 3 1/2 - 4 hours drive from Cairo. |
Day 1: Meet your guide and begin with the desert vehicle
about noon in Abu Zenima. Go by jeep (or Land cruiser) to the beginning
of the picturesque Wadi Ba'ba'a. Dinner around the campfire and
sleep.
Day 2: Ride camels through Wadi Ba'ba'a and see a
side variety of desert landscapes -- rocky terrain, oases, sandy
valley. Lunch in Wadi Ba'ba'a. Dinner and sleep in the sand
dunes near Bir Rekhis Bedouin village.
Day 3: Go by jeep through Dabbat El Qira'i sand dunes
and Wadi Matallah. See Gebel Matallah (white mountain) and return
to Abu Zenima in the evening.
Accommodations can be arranged for you in Abu Zenima that night. |

Beginning
at Saint
Catherine's
At the foot of Moses Mountain ("Mount Sinai"). |
Day 1: Drive from Cairo or Sharm El Sheikh and arrive in
the evening at St. Catherine's. Sleep at the Morganland, St.
Catherine's Village or the Plaza Hotels.
Day 2: Up about 2 AM to begin the climb up St.
Catherine's Mountain for sunrise. Climb to the top by camel and
foot or hike the whole way under the starry sky. The clear air at
this high elevation provides some awe-inspiring star gazing. Enjoy
the sunrise from the summit. Descend and see the St. Catherine's
Monastery (if it is open) and have breakfast at your hotel.
Leave the hotel by jeep and travel through the desert to Zig Zig
Canyon. Make camp and overnight at Zig Zag Canyon.
Day 3: Camels arrive to take you to the Arada
Canyon (about 2 hours camel ride). Enjoy hiking in the Arada
Canyon when you arrive there. After lunch ride the camels again
into Wadi Arada where you sleep.
Day 4: Go by jeep through Wadi Safra to Bir Safra
and climb a tall sand dune (the descent down the sand dune is an
exciting experience). Continue on through the large sand dunes to
El Haduda Sand Dune, the largest in South Sinai. Visit the Nawamis
on your return to Saint Catherine's. The Nawamis are Bronze Age
(older than Ancient Egypt!) tomb structures built sometime 3,100 - 4,000
BC. Sleep at a hotel in St. Catherine's. |

Beginning
at Nuweiba
On the north-eastern coast of South Sinai. |
Day 1: The jeep picks you up in the morning at any
hotel in Nuweiba. You travel by jeep (or Land cruiser) to the
Colored Canyon. Spend about 2 hours hiking in the canyon and
marveling at the amazing rock formations and colors there. Then
travel by jeep through the desert to Wadi Ghazala and on to the Ein
Khudra Oasis. Overnight at Ein Khudra.
Day 2: Hike in the White Canyon (near Ein Khudra)
for about 2 hours until you meet your camels waiting for you at the
other end. Ride the camels to the Nawamis. The Nawamis are
Bronze Age (older than Ancient Egypt!) tomb structures built sometime
3,100 - 4,000 BC. Sleep nearby in the sand dunes.
Day 3: Ride camels to Ma'Rum with it's many sand
dunes of soft sand. Go to the top of the largest sand dune of all,
El Haduda Sand Dune, the largest in South Sinai. Then travel by
jeep back to Nuweiba, arriving in the evening. |

Beginning
in Sharm
El Sheikh or Dahab |
Day 1: We pick you up in the morning at any hotel
in Sharm El Sheikh or Dahab. Travel by jeep to Wadi El Haduda and
then by camel to the El Haduda Sand Dune, the largest in South
Sinai. Then continue by camel to Ma'Rum where we make camp and
sleep. Visit the "Hole in the Rock."
Day 2: Ride camels to the Nawamis where we have
lunch. The Nawamis are Bronze Age (older than Ancient Egypt!) tomb
structures built sometime 3,100 - 4,000 BC. Continue on to the Ein
Khudra Oasis where we sleep.
Day 3: Hike in the nearby White Canyon (about 2
hours) and meet the jeep at the end that will take you back to Sharm El
Sheikh (about 3 hours) or Dahab. |
