Day-by-Day
Itinerary
Friday,
Sept 22:
After
breakfast on the cruise boat an American Express representative will
bring you to Abu Simbel by A/C minivan. The weather can interfere
with traveling to Abu Simbel by plane. It is not uncommon to have
flights delayed or canceled. Since you are traveling by road you
can be sure that you will get to see the site, AND you will be there
when it is not filled with the crowds that come by plane.
Afternoon arrival in Abu Simbel with time to visit the temples of
Ramesses II and his queen, Nefertari. The temples are walking
distance from your hotel.
This evening is a special treat, the Sound & Light Show at
the Abu Simbel Temples. Updated just a few years ago, this is the
most technologically advanced Sound & Light show in Egypt and is
truly spectacular.
Hotel: Nefertari Hotel.
Meals:
Breakfast. Box Lunch from cruise boat. Dinner at Nefertari
Hotel.
Sat,
Sept 23:
If you
choose, you can rise early this morning and return to see the sunrise at
the temples over Lake Nasser. The Ramesses II Temple is the one
that was constructed to have the first rays of morning light shine
through the doorway to the back of the temple on 2 days of the year.
After
breakfast is the drive back to Aswan where you will get your flight back
to Cairo. Upon arrival in Cairo you are met and assisted by an
American Express representative and escorted to your hotel, conveniently
located beside the airport so that you will not have to face Cairo
traffic if you are departing tomorrow.
Hotel: Novotel Cairo
